On the 1st of July our company has joined the association of German machine builders and plant engineering (VDMA).
What is the VDMA?
The VDMA represents one of the key branches of Germany. With 1.3 million gainfully employed persons the plant and mechanical engineering is the biggest industrial employer in Germany and thus the backbone of the German economy. The association represents the interests of approximately 3300 companies of this branch which makes it Europe´s biggest industrial association.
What is the VDMA´s job?
The association is the voice of the branch and protects its interest in Berlin and Brussels. Additionally it has eight representations worldwide - from Brazil to China. The association places topics that are important for the companies on the political agenda.
Why become a member?
The association supports and helps companies with current information about important topics. Furthermore, the VDMA offers services related to legal or non-economical questions and especially acts as a platform to establish contacts inside the branch. This way a quick, unbureaucratic exchange on various questions is possible.
What do our managing directors say?
"We are living in challenging times. Especially for important topics regarding the future it is helpful to be able to access the competence and network of the VDMA", says Christoph Schlegel. "With the VDMA membership we can additionally participate in making the machine builder´s interests being heard."
Are we active?
Our company is actively participating in the association work. Jürgen Leng of the business development department represents Schlegel inside the VDMA. Our company is assigned to the VDMA professional association of "Electrical Automation" consisting of 243 companies. Within the professional association Jürgen Leng is futhermore active in the working group of economy and control technology. Moreover he participates in seminars about top current topics that have an impact on our company. "Networking becomes more and more important. A lot of companies are concerned with similar topics. The membership in the association offers the possibility to exchange on a professional basis and receive the most actual informations", says Jürgen Leng.
Already a member of the ZVEI
Back in January Schlegel has joined the Central Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) which represents 1600 companies of this branch. With the additional VDMA membership Schlegel is now active in both big branch associations.
