One button, four awards

SCHLEGEL’s new display button impresses international design juries

A rare achievement: electrical engineering specialist SCHLEGEL, based in Dürmentingen, has received four prestigious design awards for its new Flexitast. SCHLEGEL's display pushbutton has been honoured with the iF Design Award, the Focus Open Gold, the Red Dot Award and the Good Design Award (Chicago).

It is exceptional for a product to impress four independent juries. The combination of well-thought-out technology and a clear concept was particularly recognised. For example, the iF jury highlighted “new possibilities for flexible machine control”, while the Focus Open jury emphasised the freely configurable button display as a “technological leap”.

At the core of the Flexitast is a simple yet effective idea: a classic push button combined with an integrated display. Rather than fixed labels, texts, symbols or colours, the display can be adapted at any time via a web browser — even in real time. The display remains visible even without power. This means greater flexibility for companies, less effort when reconfiguring and clearer operation.

"Industrial operation is becoming more flexible and more connected. That’s what the Flexitast stands for,” says Managing Director Christoph Schlegel. The awards confirm this direction.

The control device was also developed for use in challenging environments. A robust glass surface protects the display, and the technology used prevents image burn-in.

These four awards further demonstrate SCHLEGEL's design expertise, bringing the company's total number of national and international awards to over 110.
