Emergency-stops serve to avert existing or imminent emergencies as quickly as possible in order to prevent injuries to people and damages to machines. If there is a malfunction on a machine or on a production plant or if an operating error leads to an uncontrollable situation, the emergency-stop has to ensure that the system is put into the safe state immediately and simply at the touch of the button. In order to ensure that the emergency-stop can be clearly identified and is easy to operate, the structure and the operating principle are subject to the standards EN 60947-5-5 and EN ISO 13850. Schlegel emergency-stops are certified according to them.

In highly automated industry 4.0 production environments the requirements as to human machine communication are increasing continuously. The complexity of intelligent factories and the coincident highest production flexibility are new challenges for the employees. In order to control and monitor processes in a reliable and safe way, e.g. in modular built production lines, control panels have to provide all status information immediately and intuitively. This is the only way for the employee to fulfil the monitoring task towards the automated system and to act rapidly, also in case of an emergency.

Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co. KG is now also offering a further version of its active illuminated emergency-stops. The new type QRBDUV is equipped with an anti-lock collar and a diagnostic unit which further enhance the safety at work in producing enterprises. The functional principle: If the plant part which is equipped with the fix mounted emergency-stop – for example as a module of a production line – is in operation, the actuator signals its functional status by an active illumination. In inactive condition, however, the emergency-stop is not illuminated, thus also not identifiable as emergency-stop and fulfilling the requirements of the standard DIN EN ISO 13850:2015. A further safety related feature of the emergency-stop QRBDUV is the integrated diagnostic unit which constantly monitors the illumination status and thus the activity of the emergency-stop. If for any reason the diagnostic unit switches off and thus signals the inactivity of the actuator, there is an automatic signal to the corresponding plant part and the related production line is stopped – if connected in series even all modules are stopped. Also the yellow illuminated anti-lock collar serves for more safety at work by preventing a locking of the actuator.

Modern control panels have to comply with different requirements. For this purpose it is necessary to combine the highet demands as to ease of use, flexibility and safety. In addition, the optical appearance plays an important role in many application fields. In order to offer customers a lot more options for the equipment of compact control stations, Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co. KG has expaned its series mYnitron: Beside the well established emergency-stops for 16.2 mm mounting diameter the series now comprises a new pushbutton and a new active illuminated emergency-stop, also for 16.2 mm mounting diameter and in the same design.

The Shortron Control Unit series is now available as potted version, moreover, it has been supplemented with tactile pushbuttons and membrane pushbuttons.

Extremely low front bezel height, min.operating travel, small mounting depth, functional and aesthetic design – all these and many other features have made the Shortron series of Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co.KG very popular over the years, be it in the machine tool industry or in the pharmaceutical industry. This successful series has been enhanced by tactile and membrane pushbuttons, which are now available. For applications that require a high IP rating both in front and on the back of the panel, some actuators of the Shortron series can also be supplied in a potted version.

Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co. KG is expanding its portfolio by an illuminated emergency-stop. The actuator improves the safety in connection with mobile control stations like pluggable programming devices or wireless handhelds as well as modular plant parts. The functional principle: If control stations or plant parts are connected to the overall system the active condition of the emergency-stop is signalled by the red illuminated mushroom head. In case there is no connection available the mushroom head is not illuminated and thus has a grey transparent colour which indicates that the emergency-stop is inactive. The aim is to avoid confusion upon shutdown of the control station or the plant part and to ensure that no inactive emergency-stop is being operated and thus to provide safety at work. Schlegel's new emergency-stop is in accordance with ISO 13850:2015(E) and will be certified acc. to the coming EN ISO 13850:2015(D).

With the new emergency-stop Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co. KG presents a compact solution for the application in small devices and in the medical sector. By the low height of only 20.5 mm and the mounting diameter of 16.2 mm the new emergency-stop is becoming a perfect actuator, for example for hand-helds and small panels being among others used in retail. In addition this emergency-stop which is available in different versions is the perfect equipment for workout devices, e.g. treadmills.

An aluminium protection cap and the direct-connection facility of the USB jack to a motherboard make the Rontron-R-Juwel series even more versatile.

The control unit series Rontron-R-Juwel from Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co.KG, which has received numerous renowned design awards, is in demand wherever high requirements with regard to design, technology and flexibility have to be met. The popular series has been supplemented with new models of panel-mount jacks: As of now, they can be supplied with aluminium protection caps. In addition, Schlegel offers the USB jack with direct-connection facility to motherboards.

Georg Schlegel GmbH & Co. KG presents a new concept of stainless steel profile enclosures for their Shortron actuators: The sophisticated solution has been specially developed for the mounting to profile rails. By its new design reduced in the height and the small-shaped housing it perfectly fits to the size of the standard profile rails. Schlegel offers the stainless steel enclosure for profile rails in the dimensions 40 x 40 mm and for 1 - 6 actuators as standard. Customised versions are possible on request.
